POWER ELECTRONICS COMMISSIONING AND TESTING SUPPORT SYSTEMS FOR BESS

The commissioning and testing of power electronics systems, such as converters, inverters, or BESS components, requires precise diagnostic tools and a suitably designed testing environment. 

We provide advanced systems to support these processes, ranging from measuring devices and cell and grid simulators to software tools that aid in analysis and reporting of results. Our solutions enable effective detection of potential faults, optimization of settings, and acceleration of the deployment process for new power electronics systems.

OUR TESTERS

At the heart of the system is a proprietary bidirectional converter based on state-of-the-art silicon carbide (SiC) transistors. This solution provides very high energy conversion efficiency. Additionally, the machine is deszigned so that a large power supply connection is not required. 

This is achieved by the ability to test two batteries simultaneously (energy transfer from battery to battery) with minimal energy loss. As a result, it can test batteries up to 1000 VDC at 200 kW, while drawing very little power from the grid. This approach doubles testing throughput, since two batteries can be checked at the same time.

The system can also charge batteries from the grid or discharge them passively to a resistive load. Modern electric vehicle batteries include advanced Battery Management Systems (BMS), and our machine can communicate and control the tested batteries via the CAN bus. The communication protocol is defined directly with the client to match their requirements and specifications, enabling the creation of automated test scenarios.

Both the converter and the control software were developed by IFS Polska, which allows us to customize technical parameters (power, voltage) and control software according to client needs. This enables us to build machines tailored to each customer’s requirements.
